MY RUIN's TAIRRIE B: 'Major Labels Are Afraid Of Us'
August 30, 2002MY RUIN frontwoman Tairrie B has posted a message via the group's official web site describing the inspiration behind the band's forthcoming album, tentatively due in early 2003. The statement reads as follows:
"Over the past couple of years, we have experienced so many things that we feel needed to be addressed with our next record. As artists you must sometimes dig deep into the most darkest parts of yourself to create something meaningful. I have always said that my religion is ...relationships. One of my most important relationships is that which is with you. The person who is reading this post at this minute alone on his or her computer. You have been here supporting both me and my band. Maybe for only a few days or maybe you have been here for a few years. We may or may not have met yet...we may never... but I know that you and I have a connection because music has brought us together. That is what it is all about. The reason we are both still here. I read this board as often as I can, and while it pains me to see the negativity that is sometimes posted, it inspires me to see the positive presence that so many people have brought to our little world.
"We are not and will probably never be that huge band on a major label. Major labels are afraid of us and what we do because it is not pre-fabricated bullshit written specifically for the sole intention of a radio hit. It is honest and speaks the truth on subjects that some people do not want to talk about. It's not that we think major labels are the enemy... on the contrary... they could be wonderful if the people who ran them had balls enough to take chances like they did in the past. Today it seems that everyone just wants the same thing someone else just signed... and we like to believe we are different. Maybe we are, and maybe we aren't, but we try to stay as true to ourselves and our music as possible. Hopefully our record will be out soon and available everywhere...not just a limited amount in limited stores and on Amazon.com."
